Both the author in the reading passage and the lecturer talk about the genetic modification of the trees. Yet their viewpoints contrast with each other. While the author points out three benefits, the lecturer thinks otherwise, contending that those trees are not great and will produce some problems for sure.
First of all, while the writer states that the modified trees are designed to be more hardier, the speaker presents opposing discourse to such a belief, reasoning that the modification can not ensure the survival of the trees. The speaker says that the genetic modified trees' genes are uniform. Once they are planted in a place without the designed features, they might be wiped out completely.
Secondly, the writer indicates that the genetically modified trees can bring the farmers a large amount of the money since the trees grow faster and greater. But, as opposed to the conviction, the speaker argues that the seeds of the modified trees will charge the farmer more. Besides, the farmers can not collect the trees for free, they need to pay for the planting by law. Therefore, they are not possible to make lots of money for the people who plant them.
Thirdly, in the reading passage, the writer believes that the use of the genetically modified trees can prevent over exploitation due to its fast speed of growth, However, presented by the speaker to diminish the authenticity is the argument that the trees will in return yield more damage to the environment because they are very aggressive. When they are planted in a new area, they will compete the resource, such as the sun light, with the native species. As a result, the native ones will die.

Young people nowadays do not give enough time to helping their communities.
The relationship with our communities is so essential that we need to spend lots of time on them to maintain. However, with a large amount of the new technological products being invented and the competing atmosphere growing in our society, I think that, in present time, young people do not give enough time to helping their communities.
First of all, because the development of the technology, young people focus on the devise in their hands instead of their communities. Under this circumstance, the youngsters often forget to observe their surroundings and then ignore the people that might need their help. For example, after the smart phones came out, almost every student get one in their hands. They use it whenever and wherever, which may make them miss some old people just standing beside them and calling for a favor. As a result, the youngsters do not care about their communities so much due to the improvement of technology.
Secondly, the world nowadays has become so competitive, therefore youngster naturally prefer to help themselves first. The society today usually teach our students to be concentrate on the grades on the exams, which may lead to a very serious result. Since that the care and love to our communities has been replaced by the selfishness, the youngsters will gradually forget the most important thing, the communities. For instance, the students are more likely to spend their times on studying in the libraries instead of being a volunteer in the library.
Even though some people would consider that the youngsters today, compared to before, has used more time on their communities, such as utilizing the social media to give a hand to others or holding some related events on the internet. I thinks the evidence are not convincing. It easy for us to experience that the young people are more likely to give the time on themselves.
In conclusion, when it comes to the issue about the relationship between the young people and their communities nowadays, I would say that due to the continuously upgraded inventions and the changing attitude towards the society, the youth nowadays do not give enough time to assisting their communities.
