Both the author in the reading passage and the lecturer in the lecture talk about the odd sounds heard by the Russian submarines. Yet their viewpoints contrast with each other. While the author mentions three theories for explaining the sounds, the lecturer thinks otherwise, contending that it is true that those sounds are strange and still not sure what they are, however, the statements in the reading passage are not convincing.

First of all, while the writer states that the sounds were probably made by the ocra whales for courtship ritual, the speaker presents opposing discourse to such a belief, reasoning that since the ocra whales live in the surface water instead of the deep ocean in which the submarines were, it is unlikely to say those sound heard by the Russian were from the ocra whales due to the long distance. Moreover, the ocra whales are detectable if they are around the submarines.

Secondly, as opposed to the conviction presented in the reading passage, the speaker argues that because the odd sounds only were heard from 1960s until 1980s, it is not possible to conclude the sounds were made by the giant squid which is still live there now. According to the speaker, there are no reasons for the Russian to stop hearing those sounds if they are from the giant squids.

Thirdly, presented by the speaker to diminish the authenticity in the reading passage is the argument that since the submarines nowadays are not allowed to change the direction quickly and there is no any submarines that is able to emit the "quackers' sound, it is impossible that those sounds are created by other foreign submarines.

As the time goes by, there are more and more new jobs coming up to reach people's satisfaction. Most of the jobs make people work five days a week, others make people work for a longer time but only three days a week. While some people would love to choose former since they do not have to stay in the office for such a long time, other people would prefer to do the work so intensively and then go on a 4-day vacation. From my perspective, for maintaining a high efficiency of work and the better condition to hang out with my family and friends, I believe that it is more enjoyable to have a job where you work five days a week.

First of all, the most important thing of doing our work is undoubtedly how efficient we are. The bosses and manager usually do not care about the process, the only thing that they take so seriously is the efficiency. For example, working for a proper time from Monday to Friday allow us to get enough rest at home and return to the office with lots of energy the next day. We do not need to be rush neither to be stressful, under the circumstance, we do our jobs so gracefully with a perfect performance.

Secondly, given that people who works five days a week are more likely to receive accurate rest, they might have a better condition in their holidays. People who works for three days a week for a longer time will feel exhausted as well as tired after they go home because they need a great period to relax and relieve. As a result, they are not capable of being in a nice condition on holidays, in other words, in fact, they do not have holidays. Even if they go out with friends, they cannot enjoy it at all.

According to the above statements, I consider that choosing a job that make you work five days a week will be better.
