Both the author in the reading passage and the speaker talk about the ecocertification for wood companies in  the United States. Yet their viewpoints contrast with each other. While the author mentions that the Amerian companies might not want to receive the ecocertification, the speaker thinks otherwise, contending that they will definitely seek the ecocertification for their wood products.

First of all, while the writer states that the American consumers may not pay attention to the ecocertification label, the speaker presents opposing discourse to such a belief, reasoning that American consumers do not treat the advertising all the same and they distinguish the ads. The speaker states that independent consumers care about this certification from the international agency and therefore, these companies with the certifications will be more favorable.

Secondly, the writer indicates that the companies would prefer to keep their prices low rather than obtain ecocerticication. However, as opposed to this conviction, the speaker argues that the consumers compare the price only with the competing products' prices while making the decision. As the consumers convince the value of protecting the environment, they will buy those products.

Thirdly, the writer points out that the American companies do not care about the developments in the rest of the world because they sell most of their products in the United States. But, presented by the speaker to diminish the authenticity is the argument that the companies do care about the foreign competition. They understand that once the American consumers love their products, the foreign consumers will increase as well.

Some people say that the Internet provides people with a lot of valuable information.

Others think access to much information creates problems.

Which view do you agree with?

Due to the technological development in this era, humans' lives have been greatly changed. Some people believe that the Internet provides people with a lot of valuable information, whereas other people think that access to much information creates problems. As far as I am concerned, the Internet does have uncountable negative effects. I am willing to discuss the reasons further in the following essay.

First of all, the Internet makes people lazier. Compared to the past time, people nowadays are able to reach the information in a very convenient way. If people type the keywords, the related website will come out within seconds. It is not difficult to find answers to every question anymore. Under this situation, people become much lazier since going to the libraries and read lots of books for an answer might cost a great amount of time. For example, when doing reports, students tend to surf the Internet and just copy the whole article without reading. It is harmful because instead of doing the research on their own, people are more likely to rely on the information on the Internet.

Secondly, there is more and more crime happened on the Internet. Because the Internet is a wide space that allows people to upload their works and post information, some criminals would utilize this convenient access to cheat money. For example, the criminals illegally hack into the website and steal people's personal information, such as ID numbers and phone numbers. Then, they call those phone numbers and cheat people that they are from the police stations. Many innocent people will believe and follow the steps presented by the criminals to make people transfer the money. According to the reports, this kind of criminals can defraud over a hundred millions of dollars in a year.

As has been demonstrated above, it is undeniable that the problems which are created by the internet are serious. Not only do the people have to teach the children how to use the Internet in a correct way, but also the government needs to make laws in related to prevent crimes on the Internet.
