Both the author in the reading passage and the speaker talk about teamwork. Yet their viewpoints contrast with each other. While the author states several advantages of teamwork, the speaker thinks otherwise, using an example from a company to illustrate the negative influences of teamwork.

First of all, while the writer points out that the individual team member has a much better chance to shine, the speaker presents opposing discourse to such a belief, reasoning that the recognition of well-down job goes to the group as a whole. That is, the names of the member who performed excellently will not be known by others. Besides, there are some free riders in the group. Even though they do not contribute to the project, they still receive benefits.

Secondly, the writer indicates that the team can work more quickly and can come up with highly creative solutions. However, as opposed to this conviction, the speaker argues that the group is not able to finish the project quickly because they need to spend a long time on reaching decisions and planning about how to do the project. By contrast, another group which contains only people is more influential because they drop ideas fast and will not do any further discusses. Friends are essential assets that people are not able to live without. Some people believe that it is more important to keep old friends than it is to make new friends, whereas other people think that making new friends is more crucial. As far as I am concerned, it is vital to cherish old friends instead of new friends. I am willing to discuss the reasons further in the following essay.

First of all, people should keep old friends because they are best advisors. After a long time of interaction and communication, old friends know us so well that they understand our personalities and are able to provide appropriate suggestions. For example, when we cannot decide which job to do, old friends will be the best advisors for us. Based on the deep understanding of our traits, they are capable of offering us several constructive advice and lead us to a correct direction. By contrast, new friends cannot tell what is most suitable for us due to the unfamiliarity. As a result, it is vital to keep our best advisors.

Secondly, people only feel at ease in front of old friends. Thanks to the long-term accumulation of trust, we are able to share any stories with old friends without any worry. That is to say, we do not need to camouflage and can completely be ourselves. For instance, when we feel stressful, we can talk to them and relief the pressure. However, with new friends, we are likely to disguise ourselves due to the lack of trust. Under this circumstance, it will be quite difficult to have a deep conversation and natural expressions. Consequently, old friends are more valuable than new friends. 

As has been demonstrated above, it is clear that old friends play more important roles in our lives than new friends. People should never ignore these precious people and always show love and thankfulness to them.
